ASFI 5-10 Program 2026
(Research Capacity Building Program for African Universities)
Program Starts: January 2026
The ASFI 5-10 Program 2026 is designed to create clusters of next-generation research champions across African universities by training and mentoring 50 junior scholars in each of Africa’s five regions. The focus is on research excellence, integrity, and science patriotism throughout the year 2026.
Goals:
- 250 Candidates
- 50 Universities
- 5 African Regions
Selected candidates will be trained in 7 ASFI courses and mentored throughout 2026. Candidates who complete the program will receive the ASFI Consolidated Research Excellence Capacity Building Certificate.
Candidates Will Master:
- Data analysis (quantitative and qualitative)
- Scientific communication & publishing
- Grant writing and research funding
- Science leadership and mentoring
- Career development and nurturing
- Research integrity, impact, & productivity
- Continental networking and collaboration
Important Information:
Note: Only institutions can apply for this program, not individuals. The program is FREE.
Application Steps & Timeline:
- Step 1: Institutions apply – 15th September 2025
- Step 2: Decision on institution application – 15th October 2025
- Step 3: Institution nominates 5 candidates – 15th November 2025
- Step 4: Program starts – January 2026
